The Center for Research, Public Policy, and Training was established by Texas State University on January 25, 2010. The center was created to provide an opportunity for Texas State University to assist legislators, public officials, agencies and communities across Texas to research and find solutions to problems in public policy.
Housed within the Department of Political Science, the center seeks to engage experts from multiple academic disciplines as well as collaboration with public and community officials. The Center will serve to locate and provide funding for research as well as to provide specific training and education to the community as may be identified by the research.
The Center has previously collaborated with the Swedish National Defense College in Stockholm to explore effective means of training and educating international peacekeepers who may be remotely located with limited bandwidth. Along with the technical exploration, a draft syllabus for Ethical Leadership for International Peacekeepers was developed.
The Center is currently collaborating with members of the Texas Legislature to learn about the staff development process and to develop a more efficient means of training existing and potential legislative staff members.
